I want to personally thank Scott Nydam for the water bottle he gave me on Stage 1. We were kind of in a pinch with no water and Scott gave me half a bottle when he could have had the rest him self. I didn't actually thank him at the time, I said thank god instead. So thank you to Scott Nydam who rode great all week!
Well, I'm back and can't sleep! The 2007 giro del fruli was sweet! Having the success we had in Our first Euro race as a team, was the highlight of my season so far. I think it's a sign of what's to come for BMC in the future. The guys rode great, all week. I'm grateful to have teammates like that, putting everything they had into defending the jersey for me. i was a little disappointed I couldn't hold on to it for one more day with how hard the guys rode on the front. i mean the Dudes killed it, i was in the hurt locker and I was sitting on. AT one moment I looked down and we were riding 35. when the guys were on the front, the pace was pretty much between 30 and 35 and they did this for yeah about 100 k. It was kind of a hard day, we rode that hard and didn't get much out of it. Nydam had to sacrifice his overall gc in riding for me.. I lost the jersey and jackson, ian, and ken had nothing left after ridng flat out for 100 k just the 3 of them. But, we did the "pro thing" as mike sayers puts it. We had too, we were in the jersey. All in all we learned a lot on the day, that was one of the reason's for doing this race to get the experience. and it was quite the experience. I don't think people expected us to win a stage, have 1st and 2nd overall in gc for a day and ride tempo like we did coming in our first Euro race. So even though we didn't ride our best the last 2 days, in the end we can't take anything away from what we did.
Also: Riding behind Ian MaC aka "The Wattage Cottage" in the ttt was the fastest and hardest I have ever had to ride, so unless you want put your self in the "pain cave" don't try this at home.
